Arkham Harley Quinn
Based on: Harley Quinn in Batman: Arkham Asylum
Date made: 2010
Worn at: DragonCon 2010

About this costume:
I was originally trying to make this outfit for ComicCon but didn't finish it until
DragonCon 2010. There were a lot of parts to assemble and figuring out the
waist cincher took the longest. This is the first costume I used with vinyl dye, which
is now one of my favorite techniques. It's very handy to be able to change the
color of vinyl and not worry about it flaking or wearing off. The upholstery paint
soaks in and has a nice finish.

How I made the costume:

Outfit:
The top and skirt were pretty easy to fin. I just cut off a regular button-up short
and then splattered the skirt with fake blood. I made the nurse hat with the material
I cut off the shirt. The waist cincher was the toughest part. I started with a black vinyl cupless bustier
and cut some of the straps off, but kept the ones around the neck. I then dyed the vinyl red with spray
paint made for car upholstery. The belts are kid size belts, cut and sewn onto the cincher. I used an
industrial sewing machine to go through the thick leather. See what the cincher looks like originally

Shoes:
301-Stacks by Demonia, which are available on the website: Demonia Stack Boots
I got black boots and then spray painted one purple and one red with the vinyl dye paint.

Accessories:
Leather cuffs and collar by Elegant Moments, handmade nurse headband, handmade gloves painted
with same vinyl dye as boots

Hair & Make-up:
My hair was already long and blond, so I put it up in pigtails. The white make-up is white cream
pancake make-up by Mehron and the mask is painted on with purple cream eyeshadow.
